Gossaigaon is a small town in the Bodoland region of Assam, India. This is a sub-divisional headquarters of Kokrajhar district. The inhabitants are diverse, religiously. This place is well connected by Ground transportation and rail roads. It has a small river (Modati). Gossaigaon is located at 26°25?11?N 89°59?03?E.[1] It has an average elevation of 50 metres (164 feet). Vegetation is deciduous and evergreen, also grass lands at patches.

Gossaigaon is a part of 5 no. Kokrajhar lok sabha constituency in the state of Assam. Present MP is Mr. Hira Sarania. Also it is a state legislative constituency of 28 no. Gossaigaon. The present member of legislative assembly is Mr. Majendra Narzary.

There is a railway station named as Gossaigaon Hat (GOGH) railway station, where all the passengers trains and a few mail trains halts. Most people from Gossaigaon area suffering a lot for getting serving from railway facilities. The stoppage of Kamrup express, Capital express, North East express, Bangalore express etc. are long run demand from the people of Gossaigaon. There is also a Bus stand providing buses and small vehicles for travelling towards different parts of lower Assam and border areas of West Bengal. It is well connected to Cooch behar, Alipurduar and Siliguri. Also few buses runs between Kokrajhar, Bongaigaon, Barpetaroad, Goalpara and Dhubri.

The Ranendra Narayan Basumatary Civil Hospital is the biggest government hospital in this area. It is a 100 bed hospital is located near the village Habrubil. There is also a small government hospital in the town near Gossaigaon Govt. H.S. School named Gossaigaon C.H.C. A state veterinary dispensary and a block veterinary dispensary is located near Gossaigaon C.H.C. A sub-divisional animal husbandry and veterinary office is also located here.

Gossaigaon is a Municipal Board town in district of Kokrajhar, Assam. Earlier, it was a Town Committee which was established on 1972 and later upgraded to a Municipal Board on 2016. The Gossaigaon town is divided into 4 wards for which elections are held every 5 years. The Gossaigaon Municipal Board has population of 9,068 of which 4,782 are males while 4,286 are females as per report released by Census India 2011.
